RENT-A-SONGWRITER LAUNCH
http://www.myspace.com/RentASongwriter

Just in time for Valentine's Day, I'm finally unofficially launching my Rent-A-Songwriter(TM) business. Which means that you — yes YOU — can have a personalized pop, rock or hip-pop song written & recorded for a loved one (or for yourself) by me. The latest song I wrote for a special occasion was "Domesticated," inspired by the wedded union of my dear friends Alina & Eric of the pop-punk band The Domestics. You can listen to "Domesticated" and other songs I've crafted for previous Rent-A-Songwriter(TM) clients and get more details about my services at the myspace link above.

Check back for updates on other exciting projects.

GUESS WHO'S GETTING MARRIED? AND PLAYING NEW SONGS AT CB'S GALLERY ON MONDAY NIGHT?

That's right! I caught the bouquet at my sister’s wedding last weekend, so it’s true, *I* am slated to be the next victim of love! And *you* are cordially invited to come celebrate my future nuptial bliss on Monday night at CB’s Gallery.

We’ll reminisce about my days as a cynical singleton with songs of frustrated love. Plus, I’ll be debuting some brand new songs I gave birth to (out-of-wedlock!) this past summer at the BMI Professional Songwriters Workshop I participated in.

I’m registered at Guitar Center. But, in lieu of gifts, please feel free to bring your single guy friends cause #1 on my list of wedding planning things-to-do is to, uh, find a husband.

This is also my last performance at CB’s since they are officially closing at the end of September. Really, they mean it this time!

See details for the show in the ONE-NIGHT STANDSsection.

By the way, I'm sorry it's been sooooooo long since there's been any "breaking news". If you've been reading my myspace blogs, you know that I cancelled my shows this summer due to some health problems, namely Arthritis, Bursitis and Tendonitis. That's right, I'm rockin' THREE Itis's! So, this CB's Gallery show will also be my triumphant comeback show. Yeah! Hope you can make it.

GIRLS TEAM WON & CONSTANTINE SHOWED!

Well, the Girls Team won for the 3rd time last Wednesday at the Girls vs. Boys: Battle of the Indie Rock Bands Part IV! The final score for 2005 is Girls 3, Boys 1.

Thanks so much to all the bands who played, especially the Girls Team bands, Dayglow and the 777's...our sponsors Monsterland Studio, Kamikaze Dolls Clothing, HurryDate & K.E. Haas Salon...our fabulous judging panel...and our hilariously neurotic MC, Liam McEneaney...you all made it the Best Battle Ever!

Or was it the Best Battle Ever because we got a bonified celebrity judge to come?! That's right, Constantine Maroulis, singer-actor-American-Idol-heartthrob, actually showed up. I think I was probably the most excited about him being there -- except for Sandy, my bass player, and those two girls & their Mom who were there videotaping him from across the room!

You can see pix of me & C at my myspace page...www.myspace.com/averagewhitegirl

Putting together these battles has been a lot of fun...and a lot of work too. So, I'm gonna take a few months off to focus on writing new songs with the band before I do the next battle. BUT I promise you that the next battle will be the BIGGEST, BADDEST BATTLE YET!

GO WEST, YOUNG WOMAN

We're making our annual trip to the West coast this week. Sadly, we will not be hitting the Bay Area or LA this time. :( But we will be playing Seattle and Portland for the first time!

The reason we’re heading to the the Pacific Northwest is because we’re going to hang out with Patti Smith, Bonnie Raitt and Ann Wilson at the ROCKRGRL Music Conference in Seattle!

PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD to anyone you know in the Seattle or Portland area who would be interested in checking out some bratty Brooklyn-style punk-pop-rock!

See One-Night Stands page for details!

The MP show: Too Hot For The Hamptons

Brooklyn band, The Marianne Pillsburys, scandalized beachgoers in Westhampton this past Sunday with their live performance outside the Copsoque Beach Hut. The show included offensive lyrics such as "having sex on a regular basis" and naked Barbies being used to simulate the morally reprehensive act of "making out". The band was asked to leave the stage half-way through their set, and the promoter apologized profusely to the audience who did not appear to be offended at all. Read all about it at....

PRESS RELEASE:

NYC singer-songwriter Marianne Pillsbury celebrated the release of her long-awaited highly-anticipated debut album The Wrong Marianne (an extension of the EP of the same name) on her own indie label, Average White Girl Records, with a CD Release Party at Luna Lounge on February 14, 2004. The CD is available online at CD Baby and Amazon.com.

San Francisco songwriter/indie-maven, Bonnie Hayes, who produced the record, describes it as "Liz Phair and Juliana Hatfield taking The Vines on a raucous road trip."

The Wrong Marianne includes such instant alterna-pop classics as "Supersize" which alternates between tight garage rock and sweeping power pop choruses, "Boo Hoo", an undeniably infectious single girl's lament, and "Sweater", a grunge-swamp ode to a one-night stand. These melodic diatribes perfectly straddle the indie/major chasm; raw, edgy and angst-ridden enough to please alternative college radio, they also manage to come off as seamless pop confections with hooks that will be right at home on commercial radio.

Marianne describes her songs as "humorous anecdotes about disappointing relationships set to music."

Surprisingly, one of Marianne's ex-boyfriends describes the album as "a power punch of deeply reflective and proactive songs that carry the bravado of a legendary East Village punk rocker and the jaded perceptiveness of a sensitive singer/songwriter."

KUSF DJ, Dennis the Menace, has pronounced Marianne "the second coming of Liz Phair," poised to usher in another era of cynical smart-ass chick rock.
